General Information
DNNStyle.com can also convert a Photoshop .PSD file, a website template, or an existing website into a Dotnetnuke Skin and Container Package.
Photoshop CS4 is used to slice the Photoshop .PSD files into the appropriate graphics which are then optimized for the web. In some cases, the .PSD files are broken down into sub-section files such as "header.psd", "menu.psd", "content.psd", "container.psd", etc. The modified Photoshop .PSD file(s) are returned to you so you have a copy of the work for your records.
For other design templates or existing websites, the html, css styles, and images are modified to work with all the Dotnetnuke functions such as the menu, containers, page headers, footer links, login, search, etc.
Once we have the appropriate html/css coded and ready, the Dotnetnuke functions are coded using either Dotnetnuke Tokens or Dotnetnuke Objects depending on the version of Dotnetnuke you are currently using while taking into consideration any plans for upgrades. Then, the final .htm files, images, and css style sheets are packaged into the Dotnetnuke Skin Package which includes the skin and container files in a single installation file. If you prefer, the skin package can also be installed for you. The skin is coded in .htm files which Dotnetnuke will use to create the appropriate .ascx files automatically; this method is reportedly preferred by the experts as being more "upgrade friendly."
You have final approval of all work done and the final product can be tweaked or revised as necessary during the conversion process. Screen shots will be emailed for your review before the final skin package is delivered.
What Is Needed to Get Started?
- You'll need to send any .PSD and/or .zip files, your logo files, and a brief description of your goals for the project to DNNStyle.com.
- If you have a live website, include a link for it, even if the design is completely different from the template files you send. Knowing what content and images are going to be used inside the website's design will be very helpful to the Dotnetnuke skin conversion process.
- The Blog Module will be styled to match the skin. If you plan to use the Events Module, please mention that so an Events Theme file can be included with the package. A theme for the Forums Module is not included, but can be created for an additional charge, so please be sure to request this if you will need a Forums Module Theme.
- Also, include a name and email address for the person to contact in regards to the project if that person is someone working for you.
- You can also ask questions before, during, and after the conversion.
